Mask Party

This saturday i went to a friend's 18th birthday party- it had a mask theme! and was so much fun!

:D

i tried dancing (emphasis on the tried) and most of the people there got very drunk. lol, first time i've seen my friends completely drunk- it was incredibly amusing. :)
however it did end on a bit of a low note- when two guys got into a fight and one ended up hitting the other with a glass bottle (he had to have 15 stitches).... :( and the police turned up and ambulances....

but otherwise a very fun night! and there's a picture of me by the way, wearing my awesome (and pretty cheap) mask- only £3.99!! not too bad folks!

:D

p.s. i've realised, i like to paartay!!!

Wuthering Heights

Greetings!

The other day i saw 'Wuthering Heights' on itv. It was shown in two 75 mins sections over two days! It was really very good! Heathcliff was played by Tom Hardy (he was incredibly sexy in it!) and Cathy played by Charlotte Riley (who is also stunninly beautiful). So, awesome pair!

Although it had an amazing cast, top-class acting, was written by a Bronte sister (Emily Bronte to be specific) it felt rushed... to a certain degree... characters seemed rash in some of their decisions and just as we (the viewers) were about to really get some insight and real depth (which i believe the actors were dying to give)- the script demanded for the next piece of action or scene to happen. So in short, i think two 75 mins sections is way to short to really build the tension and drama in this story and its characters demand.

but that's being overly analytic perhaps....

anyway, nice costumes, it's period drama (what's not to like about that?!) and i definitely digged Tom Hardy's sexy moody-ness! In fact my mother and i thought the character of Heathcliff is very similar to the Phantom (Phantom of the Opera)- misunderstood, in love, vengeful and kinda dark and gothy. :)

And I'm sure you've noticed the screen shots included, for your viewing pleasure (as always, click on them to be directed to their source)

AS level results

oh and also,

going on holiday meant that i missed getting the results at the same time as everyone else, on the 20th August

So i got them slightly later...

got home tore open the envelope and was pretty pleased! :D

basically i scraped 4 As in every subject...

drama was a really close call where the borderline was 160 (total) and i got 163, out of 200...
(drama was a real achievement as i really wanted that A- and as i am dropping it next year, i can do so pretty happily!)

the other subjects were Physics, Chemistry and Maths. they were not as borderline... :)

So all i can do is say thank you God! and be scared and excited about the coming year!

:D

Joanne- out!

The Return from Greece

Lo friends! I have returned from the ancient and cultural land of Greece!

Went on a weeks holiday with my family to Kos (a Greek island)

It was really fun!

So now I'm like super tanned (almost sunburned...)

i shall be updating some pictures from the trip soon- so look forward till then!

au revoir

Work Experience, End of it

ok, finished my work experience at my dad's dental practice today.

t'was fun! :)

had a sudden art idea... to draw a dentist as an octopus! :D sounds crazy- but i totally have a vision!

because a dentist needs many arms and hands (that's why the nurse is there...)

anyway, it shall all make sense when i do it!!!!

Need to post more often!

Geez! i'm finding it really hard to find the time to post on here!

I barely check my mail once a day...

my DeviantART inbox reads: 197 deviations, 25 journals, 3 polls and 1 activity message...
- that means that i need to check all that stuff! man...

:)

anyway, it's been incredibly busy! i'm doing my work experience (at a dental clinic) atm, and it's exhausting!

but once the storm has settled i shall try my very hardest to make posting (and checking other people's blogs- sorry!) a regular thing.

byebye for now mateees! ;)

Last Drama Lesson.... EVER!!!

*sigh*

hi...

today was my last drama lesson... ever....

t'was very sad. You see I've been doing drama since year 7. -back then it wasn't serious stuff, just games and stuff that shouldn't actually be called drama, lol. and we had a teacher called Miss Kennedy- good times those were.... :)

Anyway, then it came to the end of year 9 and we had to pick subjects for GCSEs- and i picked drama (naturally)

What followed was two years of drama with a teacher called Ms Fox- who has greatly inspired me in many ways. :)

We studied plays such as Blood Brothers, Caucasian Chalk Circle and others.... our pieces had to be devised. I remember always being very confident of my ability- until i saw myself perform (it had been recorded). And then the tragic thing occured: my self perception of myself was way out of line with how i actually look. So a big shocker- and a huge knock on my confidence... :(

...good times...

and then i got a B for my GCSE- instead of the A i was so surely predicted. I remember being absolutely destroyed by that.

Lol. How dramatic.

Anyway i tried getting over it- but i don't think i've ever properly done. So since i haven't completely felt confident in my ability.

When it came to choosing A-levels i wasn't as sure whether to pick it... but in the end i did- my unbeatable love for the subject itself beat any self-doubt i had!

So I've just had a year of incredible theatre studies (at AS level):
-discovered absurdist plays (Eugene Ionesco, amongst others)
-did the play 'Crimes of the Heart' (i played Babe)- the suicidal youngest sister who shot her husband in the stomach. :)
-I also did a monologue from 'The Gentlemen of Verona'
-And we studied 'A Doll's House' and 'Oleanna' in a lot of detail.

but alas my future prospects dictate that i can't continue it next year.

It's been rather heartbreaking, and today was the last day. :(

Spent about 1.5 hours speaking to Ms Fox after school about stuff.... man she's awesome!

So,

I'll really miss it. :) -But i'm incredibly thankful for all the years i've been fortunate enough to study the subject (and all the amazing things i've been able to take away from it!)
